Richard DeVaul Explains Why Businesses Should Adopt A Diverse Workforce

In an article entitled “Richard DeVaul on Disrupting Innovation Consulting”, Richard DeVaul explains Innovation is about overturning the existing order of things. And while innovation does create great value in the world, that process is not benign. Innovation disrupts.

Richard DeVaul has been sharing insights on innovation and how important it is for companies to have an innovative culture for their success. This has been part of his public education undertaking that he pursues to share his expertise as an innovation professional with the world. In a recent interview, he went on to explain why businesses should adopt a diverse workforce.

Diversity creates an ample workspace

According to Richard DeVaul, looking at the example of cities, it’s the most diverse cities that seem to be the most innovative ones. This innovation professional said that cities are not that far off from companies. Numerous studies support the fact that a more diverse workspace is more innovative than one that is not. This finding is not surprising considering that innovative workforces have staff with different abilities, cultures, ages, and professional experiences. Therefore, they can share and exchange ideas that might even come up in non-diverse workplaces. It’s these extraordinary ideas that are vital for pushing a company to success.

Pushing for gender diversity

Richard also mentioned gender diversity was also critical for any company’s success. This is because, for any company, no matter the product you are making, half of your prospective customers would be from either gender. Even companies making gender-specific products, the other gender will likely influence the purchase decision that your customers make. Thus, having a gender-diverse workforce will enable the company to be in the best place to capture the entire market.
